Success Stories

Impruve

We have been a self-funded all volunteer nonprofit for 16 years. Thanks to the generosity of Carson's, committed volunteers, and persons who believe in our mission, we were able to meet our sales goal in 2015 and spring 2016 to fund the first leg of our Paratransit Minuteman Campaign in order to help seniors, young people, persons who are deaf or blind, and persons who have intellectual disabilities to file civil rights complaints with the FTA  (Federal Transit Administration) on the paratransit service.  Each Community Days event, our goal is to fund the costs of our advocacy campaigns.   The campaign we face requires us to help at least 4300 persons who  ride paratransit. Approximatey 50,000 persons in Illinois are certified to ride.  The principals of IMPRUVE also ride paratransit.  It is difficult to reach the approximate 30,000 riders in Chicago, much less the entire state without adequate transportation, trust, training of volunteers, and funds for copies, printing, banners, postage, legal advocacy,  wheelchair taxis, paratransit fare, trainfare, and reimbursement of volunteer expenses.  Patience, persistence, mitigation of fear by seniors of being terminated or exploited and developing trust are key components to working with persons who are disabled.  The entire campaign is costly, but our goal is to raise $15,000 more from 2016-17 for the Paratransit Minuteman Campaign from all possible means of fund raising. WE WILL NOT BE SILENT. www.impruve.org

Repertory Dance Theatre

Repertory Dance Theatre's mission is to encourage, identify, and train young people to get involved in the field of dance as a profession and/or avocation and to promote a community wide appreciation of the art of dance thereby building and educating future audiences.

RDT is extremely grateful for the support received from Bon-Ton Community Days Event.

Countryside YMCA Teen Leaders

Our teens from Countryside YMCA participate in the Community Day Event to help us serve dinner to those in our community that are not able to get dinner for the day.  We help serve with other organizations to serve the first Thursday of the month, three times a year.

With the help of your program it helps us buy, prepare and serve the food.  It's opportunities like this, that our teens will experience a positive role in helping others.
