Success Stories

Stony Creek Suicide Prevention Walk American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

Help raise money for the third annual Rochester-Shelby Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk at Stony Creek Metropark. All proceeds from the walk go toward suicide prevention education and outreach for students, military and family and survivors.

Last year, we raised more than $50,000 and had wonderful community sponsors and more than 600 participants. Thank you, Carson's and Bon-Ton for this opportunity to help break the stigma!

IMPRUVE

We have been a self-funded all volunteer nonprofit for 16 years. Thanks to the generosity of Carson's, committed volunteers, and persons who believe in our mission, we were able to meet our sales goal in 2015 and spring 2016 to fund the first leg of our Paratransit Minuteman Campaign in order to help seniors, young people, persons who are deaf or blind, and persons who have intellectual disabilities to file civil rights complaints with the FTA  (Federal Transit Administration) on the paratransit service.  Each Community Days event, our goal is to fund the costs of our advocacy campaigns.   The campaign we face requires us to help at least 4300 persons who  ride paratransit. Approximatey 50,000 persons in Illinois are certified to ride.  The principals of IMPRUVE also ride paratransit.  It is difficult to reach the approximate 30,000 riders in Chicago, much less the entire state without adequate transportation, trust, training of volunteers, and funds for copies, printing, banners, postage, legal advocacy,  wheelchair taxis, paratransit fare, trainfare, and reimbursement of volunteer expenses.  Patience, persistence, mitigation of fear by seniors of being terminated or exploited and developing trust are key components to working with persons who are disabled.  The entire campaign is costly, but our goal is to raise $15,000 more from 2016-17 for the Paratransit Minuteman Campaign from all possible means of fund raising. WE WILL NOT BE SILENT. www.impruve.org

Pamoja International Cultural Exchange

Bon-Ton has been our saving “GRACE” by providing the “Community Day EVENT”.  PICEI has participated in the event since 2004.  Our organization has served the community without the use of tax dollars as result of the Bon-Ton Community event programs in so many occasions.

With these funds, PICEI provides regular free events for the communities we serve throughout the year.  Besides the regular free events provided, we help to raise funds for our members for unique situation, such as: helping with funds for transportation cost for the “Drew Cloggers” who shares the Irish culture through dance.

With the help of Bon-Ton, PICEI is able to bring cultural awareness to the general public by sharing the positive information of each culture.
